More appropriately, determinants of political participation are those factors and forces that can affect or influence people’s participation in politics.
Such factors are political exposure, political efficacy, education, income, gender, political interest, political culture, political parties, and religious beliefs.
Political participation can also be defined as the involvement of citizens in the decision-making of the state.
It refers to the actions made, directly or indirectly, by members of the state with the intention of influencing national politics and public policy.
Political culture is the entire set of political behaviors, beliefs, attitudes, and values that the citizens of a state share in common.
There are seven determinants of political culture, namely; history, political continuity, geographical area, socioeconomic factors, ethical factors, religions, and political ideology.
Political culture also refers to the entire body of institutions, practices, and beliefs that constitute a country’s political system.
It is the general feeling, beliefs, and attitudes of citizens towards current political happenings in a country.
More appropriately, agents of political socialization are institutions or groups of people that aid in the political socialization of members of the state.
They are mostly institutions, individuals, and organizations that contribute to political socialization.
Political socialization is the process through which people develop political beliefs and opinions necessary to become proficient members of the state.
In other words, political socialization is the process by which individuals learn and internalize experiences and perceptions about their political world.
It is the process or means by which values, attitudes, and belief systems contained in the political culture of a state are passed down from one generation to another.
