If 16 * 2\(^{(x + 1)}\) = 4\(^x\) * 8\(^{(1 - x)}\), find the value of x.
The correct answer is D. -1
16 * 2\(^{(x + 1)}\) = 4\(^x\) * 8\(^{(1 - x)}\)Â
= 2\(^4\)Â * 2\(^{(x + 1)}\) = 2\(^{2x}\) * 2\(^{3(1 - x)}\)
--> 4 + x + 1Â = 2x + 3 - 3x
collect like terms
--> x - 2x + 3x = 3 - 1 - 4
--> 2x = -2
--> x = -1
